Today we are going to look at a classic track from New Order.
A british band that created in the early 80s one of THE dancefloor hits which would later be remixed and re-used countless times. The track uses among a synthesizer, hi-hats, a E-bassline, drums and pitchbending sounds. Its iconic sound also comes from an asynchronic melody to the beat. Shows that mistakes arent really a thing when making music. So no fear when you end up having a little glitch in the matrix~ Here is the song
According to the band they decided to create this song as synthesizer piece which they could play after the show since fans were complaining there was no encore from the band after their concerts. Another fantastical example that any music piece has the ability to reach the ears of others and even make it famous worldwide. This reminds me a bit of Camille Saint Saens “Carnival of the Animals” a piece he composed for his students for training purposes but it gained enourmous popularity, much to the dismay of the composer who saw in it nothing but an ordinary piece he composed without the elegance of his other pieces.
What makes Blue Monday so amazing in my opinion is the emotionless vocals which blend so lovely with the electronic sound of the synthesizer. It gives this song such an 80s vibe that you are beeing send back in time by a robot who tells you to rescue the future by destroying something in the past.
Heres my Rating
Instrumental Variety: 4/5
Vocals: 4/5
Vibes: 4/5
Mood: Synthetic Happyness in form of Nostalgia with a breeze of Dystopia.
A solid 4 out of 5 Stars in my book.
Cheers and onto the next one!
