Transcendence of Sounds

The way of the WeWp

“There’s a way music changes things -moods, even. A way that have transformed my whole life.”

-erin, while high and staring at the universe.

When me talks about mixing and how me does the tings me does me talks about life skills. An appreciation of your own limits and reaches will be key for succeeding at making noise. There should be a whole integration of your personal, profesional and spiritual life. The tri-force. There should be a peace of mind so one can concentrate an do the stuff.

But here’s the kicker, everyone of yous already has the balance. Everything me says in this article is me own way of looking at stuff. Me beliefs and values will be seen and me hopes youself gets a wider understandment of the way of the WeWp.

Sounds have changed, music ain’t what it used to be. Words have changed too! and since words have somewhat lost its meaning, let’s start with a “glossary” of some sorts.

Personal Life, Profesional Life and Spiritual Life.

The word “Person” comes from the latin word “persona” which has its root in “sonos”. So a person be a “per sound” being. A being that generates sound innately. Here’then the thing is, we all has born “in the WeWp”. One curious thing me learned was that a “persona” was the name of a “character” being “played” in teatrical shows back in the day. And in the sense of when one is mixing, one is definetely putting a “persona” at the decks.

The word “profession” dunno where it comes from. But definetely we tends to think of “profession” in an academic way. Like the only way you can obtain a “professional title” be to you’s to go to school and stuff. Non-sense me says! We all have learned a skill and we all have so many things to share and transmit. So a “profession” be something you “profess”, like you’s beliefs, knowledge and even you’s feelings. “Profession” becomes a way of express youself in that way.

The word “Spiritual” be a tainted one. We lost the meaning of that word centuries ago. But here, me has this example: Whenever you see a friend you haven’t seen in a while, have you stopped to think like: “this dude hasn’t changed a bit”-while ’em continues to talk ’bout how much em’s life has changed. Even if it has been ages since you last saw ’em, they kinda “stuck” in time, innit? . . . But that be ’em’s “spirit”, even in a large crowd you could like totes recognize ’em. Wash away all the superstitious ways of looking to that word, because through spirit we all can show others love, hope and faith. Spirit be of essence coz it be you’s essence!

Balance, Levels and Transitions

Whenever someone talks about balance, inherently comes to the realization that no one’s is a juggler. How about balancing the balance while balancing them beats? Here one needs to really look deep into oneself, get to know youself. How? Easy: Listen. Me friend BoomBoom once told me there’s one way to listen to music, the listening that in itself be considered a virtue. Me could recommend meditation and stuffs, but to be real: ain’t nobody got time for that. In order to obtain that virtuos listening one has to ignore everything, yous body, yous stuff and yous achievements. But me be talking for hours about what it be to be done in order to know thyself. Yes, like how? You got’s it! You have had it all this time within you.

In order to continue in the way of the WeWp on has not only to balance, but to level also! Level, here’s a word that has lost meaning too -thanks to vidyagames me could say. We always searching for leveling up, innit? But what about leveling level? Zero leveling? No ups, no downs. Just Level. That’s about it, level yous mind so you can level yous levels at the decks!

Transitions, smooth ones are the ones every single DJ aspires to. Me be new at mixing, but me has learned from yous all that every day has a transition. From day into night, every minute that passes transitions into the next one. Transitions transit the “itions”, innit? The point is, enjoy the moment, carpe diem, YOLO, hakuna matata. Or how our friend Bruce Lee once said:

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
